Logo Concepts

I put out a bid on Elance.com for a logo redesign because the stock image logo just isn't cutting it anymore.

When I made the first batch of business cards for Green Cheeks, I did not have a logo. So I sorted through the stock images on Vista Print and chose this one. It's actually meant for a spa business, but I thought it suited my needs too.

So after reviewing the proposals that came in, I chose to work with a girl, Valerie, who had a decent price (mid-range of the bids) and had a great portfolio. She does all original artwork, which is 100% better than paying someone to take another stock image, dress it up and slap on GREEN CHEEKS in a fancy font!

She sent me the first concepts late last night. I was excited to get them because she sent me something earlier than I thought... and because I kind of let her loose on the idea to see what she could come up with... but I am not wild about the design. At least, not yet.

You can click on the image to make it bigger.

Anyway, the idea of having a character is great. I think it adds an identity to the business and makes it more memorable. But there were a few things that I didn't like (and I told her):
  • Having the girl on top of the company name makes the logo very tall and hard to re size for a website header.
  • The girl concept is cute, but the top and bottom she has on reminds me of a gym outfit - not feminine or attractive intimates.
  • And I like to font on the first, but not the bottom one.
Lastly, I am just a little irked that she did not come up with a more original idea... I mean, it's similar to my existing logo... plus or minus a few details. But we will see what modifications she makes after today!
