Here is the second attempt, from last Friday. I told her that I wanted something with simpler lines and something that could easily transfer from website to print copy. The corset body was a good idea, it was a little too whimsical for me.
So the third attempt was what she called "less is more," which is kind of what I was going for with the simpler lines... but only one of them indicates what I sell. And what I really wanted was a logo... not so much a fancy type font.By Saturday afternoon, I was so upset because I felt like she was just throwing ideas out at me and was not reading my feedback. So I emailed her to tell her that I was going to brainstorm because I did not want to waste time going back and forth, waiting for something to click. I decided that it was necessary to gather images and write out exactly what I wanted, rather than saying "oh that's nice, but..."
Sunday I sent her a few examples of simple logo's that I liked, plus other images and instructions. I managed to find a design concept of a "leaf-lingerie" set... and where else would I find that, but from Second-Life. People come up with some interesting things on that game!
Anyway - I took that idea and ran with it. I even went as far as sketching out a leaf lingerie set of my own for the logo... don't laugh! I am no Gil Elvgren!!I drew it out on loose-leaf while I was at a cafe and took the photo with my cell phone (quickly emailing it to myself, of course). I was so fed up with typing out descriptions that I figured by drawing it out, I would convey what I want a thousand times better. I added that to the email on Sunday... completely bummed out about any future concepts.
Then on Monday, I got these... And I swear that I teared up a little. She used my idea!Needless to say, I am so relieved. I settled on the first one, but had her change the words from all CAPS to "Green Cheeks." I have also gotten some positive feedback from my friends on Facebook about it, which ads to my excitement.
The whole purpose of getting a new logo was to give the business a memorable and unique identity. The stock image was not enough. Plus, it is a better idea to find a great logo early on... and avoid confusing customers and losing a brand identity.
Project complete. Now I just need to put it on everything!!
